Disabled swimathon raises over £2,000


Newport Pagnell Town Council, along with its partner the Disabled Swimming Club, is pleased to announce that the club took part in a Swimathon organised by the Milton Keynes Rotary Club on Saturday, February 25.


So far swimmers via sponsors have raised over £2000.

The exciting event saw 45 swimmers taking part, including teams supplied by the Town Mayor, Councillor Wendy Egan, and staff from the Middleton Pool.

The Disabled Swimming Club was formed in 1989 and has been taking part in the Swimathon since 2002. The Club swims twice a week on Monday and Friday afternoons and is proving very popular.

Owing to health cuts last year, the Club has is now receiving many more referrals from hospitals, general practitioners and physiotherapist and is providing a valuable service to the community.
