July News from Stoke Goldington CE First School

Memorable time for children at Stoke Goldington

Thanks to everyone who came to our Diamond Jubilee Playground Party at Stoke Goldington CE First School – you can see from the photos we had a fantastic time and entertained a very special guest to ‘tea!’ It was a memorable occasion for our children, parents and local community to celebrate.

Last month was a busy time at School with an incredibly exciting trip for all 19 children to the MK Primary Music Festival at MK Dons Stadium. Stoke Goldington joined their friends from North Crawley CE First School (the two Schools are affiliated under the Ouse Valley Partnership) to take part in this special annual event. The children proudly sang a variety of songs with other children from around 40 primary, infant and junior schools across the city and it was a super event to bring schools together and celebrate their vocal talent!

Back in the village we hosted our very own Olympic-themed Sports Day which saw our Early Years Foundation Stage ‘Busy Bees‘ along with the ‘Learning Ladybirds‘ in Years 1 & 2 try their hand at new sports such as shot-put and javelin. The medal ceremonies took some time!

Of course, July sees the end of our Summer Term after an extremely busy and vibrant School year. Highlights have included a memorable Community Art Day at School, no less than 7 School trips plus walking the Sport Relief Mile and recreating the burning London cityscape of the Great Fire of London in the classroom! It is amazing how much is fitted into everyday School life at a small village primary setting. Our annual Leaver’s Assembly this month gives the Year 2 children a chance to reflect on their time at school, talk about their favourite activities, proudly present their work to parents and entertain everyone with special songs and performances. There is rarely a dry eye in the house!

Our very best wishes go to our five Year 2 children who are moving on to the next chapter of their learning journey – to Ben, Reuben, Susie, William & George – Good Luck!
