It’s not long now until the Newport Pagnell Christmas Lights 2011 switch on event.
Saturday 3rd December is the date
Why not make a real Chrismassy day of it. You could start at 10:30 in Newport Pagnell Library where the Friends of Newport Pagnell library (FONPL) are holding their first ever event. A reading of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. They will be serving mince pies and there will also be a family quiz that only costs 20p to enter.
When that finishes at 11:30 its time to walk the short distance up to the High Street where there will be lots of Christmas stalls for you to browse. You could stop and have a Coffee in Costa Coffee or maybe grab a late breakfast from Cafe Latte. Don’t forget to get to the High street you will have to walk past the Golden Fry fish and chip shop so if a cone of chips is what you crave they will be happy to serve you.
Throughout the afternoon there will be various things happening on the High Street including at 3pm the unveiling of the Newport Pagnell Nativity Scene re introduced for the first time in around 30 years. This has been made possible by the sponsorship of www.Newport-Pagnell.co.uk and the hard work of a team of volunteers that have done everything from donating a brand new shed, which was promptly cut up and rebuilt, to spending their Sunday mornings painting the figures and clearing space in the vicarage garden. We would like to thank the Vicar for allowing us to modify his plants a little and for providing the electricity for the lights on the scene.
At around 4:30 – 4:45 there will be a childrens parade and then at 5pm The christmas lights will be switched on.
Why not continue the day with dinner in Prego or make it a real treat and go to Robinsons and then a swift half in one of the many fine pubs before heading home
