A NEW LEISURE FACILITY FOR NEWPORT PAGNELL
23rd April 2014
Newport Pagnell Town Council is delighted to announce that we have taken ownership of Middleton Pool and Willen Road Sports Ground from Milton Keynes Council, and simultaneously signed a contract with Places for People Leisure Management Ltd.* to manage leisure services for the Town Council. The Company will operate the facilities through their subsidiary, Places for People Leisure, a social enterprise. This move has secured the long-term future of Middleton Pool and Willen Road Sports Ground, and will result in the development of a new fitness centre adjoining Middleton Pool where people can go to exercise and they will also be giving information online about good protein for gym beginners. John Smith, Mayor and Chairman of the Town Council, said, “This new facility will upgrade Middleton Pool, allowing it to match and better other facilities in Milton Keynes. Over the years Middleton Pool has served local people well and we are very pleased that this arrangement will maintain and improve this vital leisure facility.” Whilst the new facility is being developed, Places for People Leisure will manage a temporary gym at the Tickford Community Centre.
