Stoke Goldington CE first School December 2013 update

Stoke Goldington CE First School

School has a packed calendar to enjoy running up to Christmas after some inspirational work during ‘Money Awareness Week’ last month. Each child was given £5 by the ‘Friends’ of the School (a fundraising committee of parents) with the challenge to make or do something with the money in order to turn a profit!

All 26 children from Busy Bees Early Years Foundation Stage through to Learning Ladybirds in Years 1 & 2 came up with some fantastic and varied ideas to make money. Two pupils organised a special ‘Movie Night’ for other children and their families to enjoy; one child offered a ‘bear-sitting’ service and there was a special ‘Market Stall’ afternoon where pupils could sell items they had made – from puppet mobiles to cookie mix, cupcakes to rival GBBO and hand-sewn lavender bags. All the children are going to decide how to sensibly spend the profit from their ‘Money Week’, with many of them keen on some new playground equipment.

December sees a special festive whole-School visit to a local Christmas tree farm along with a trip to watch Alice in Wonderland at The Stables, Wavendon plus the annual traditional Christingle Service at St. Peter’s Church, Stoke Goldington. Pupils are also excitedly preparing for their Nativity play which this year will be ‘A Little Bird Told Me’, and once again anticipate a large audience to enjoy their star-studded performance!

A very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone from all pupils, staff and governors at Stoke Goldington CE First School.
