Stoke Goldington CE First School February 2013 update

Stoke Goldington CE First School update

Children from Stoke Goldington CE First School sang and danced their way into the first week of their New Year term with a fantastic musical workshop from The Milton Keynes Music Service.

The group entertained all 26 children across Early Years Foundation Stages and Years 1 & 2 with a toe-tapping mix of rock ‘n’ roll, blues and pop brought to life with drums, electric and bass guitar, a keyboard and vocals. Songs included ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkeys, ‘Hallelujah’ from Shrek and ‘Teenage Kicks’ by The Undertones. The children absolutely loved the workshop and all danced, sang and clapped their way through the tunes!

Deputy Headteacher Mrs. Marie-Claire Parsons said: “Our new term started with a swing with the visit by the The Milton Keynes Music Service. The children had enormous fun and it was a great way to energise a January day and kick-start our winter learning!”

Another exciting addition to School has been the introduction of a new online learning platform which has met with resounding success. DB Primary offers a personalised area on the internet for Stoke Goldington pupils, teachers, parents and carers to access anywhere, anytime!

Every child has their own homepage created by their class teacher which presents topics they’re currently studying and gives access to fun puzzles, quizzes, links to other educational websites and forum discussions. The children can email each other or their teachers, store work and notes online to use in homework and improve their ICT skills in a really fun, engaging way. A whole new interactive world of learning opens up to pupils through DB Primary!

The children have also been enjoying exploring a wide range of topics from ‘playtime’ to ‘toys & teddies,’ ‘Chinese New Year’ to ‘dragons.’ Their sewing skills showed great improvement when encouraged to sew their very own teddy bears themselves!

The Friends of Stoke Goldington CE First School are busy preparing for a fundraising School Quiz on Saturday 16th March at Stoke Goldington Village Hall (7pm for 7.30pm). The annual quiz night is always popular and some sharp wits are needed to win! The ticket price of £10/head includes a hot supper – phone Jenny Letts on 01908-551903 if you fancy coming along.
