Stoke Goldington CE First School September 2012 update

Autumn term kicks off on Wednesday 5th September with 9 children starting in our Early Years Foundation Stage class (EYFS) plus two children joining Years 1 and 2, bringing our School register to 25 in total. What a fantastic start for our new entrants!

Their transition from Stoke Goldington Pre-School and other settings was really detailed and successful at the end of last term so our new starters join the EYFS classroom familiar with their surroundings and ready to adapt to a full School day. The EYFS curriculum allows for child-initiated activities to thrive and the children are very much encouraged individually with their progress and learning.

In addition to learning both inside the classroom and outside in the playground and field area, there are also a range of enrichment activities after School. A Church Club runs once a month featuring fun Bible-based crafts and stories whilst a local sports group runs a football club every week, plus there are after-school tennis lessons on the court at Stoke Goldington. Year 2 children can also participate in a lunchtime singing group and/or a recorder club run by one of the School Governors.

Good luck to all our new starters for a very busy, fun-filled and creative Autumn term’s learning at Stoke Goldington – details to follow next month of our topics and areas of learning plus school trips planned between now and Christmas!
