Stoke Goldington CE First School December 2012 update

December brings a month of exciting activities and visits for pupils at Stoke Goldington CE First School. First off is a visit to a local Christmas tree farm at Stoke Goldington Christmas Trees where the children can don their wellies and walk around the plantation to learn all about how to grow the perfect tree! They are also able to choose their very own tree for their School classroom.

Secondly is the School’s annual traditional Christingle service at St. Peter’s Church in Stoke Goldington. The Busy Bees Early Years Foundation Stage children and the Learning Ladybirds from Years 1 and 2 love making their own Christingle oranges which they light during the service and learn all about the origins of this festive Church of England celebration.

Plus at the end of term the School is visiting The Stables theatre at Wavendon to watch a magical production of The Secret Garden set on stage. The pupils are studying the well-known children’s classic in class and will be able to immerse themselves in the stage production which features puppetry, music and film. It’s sure to inspire many imaginations based on the idea of what you would do if you were to find a key….

With a School Nativity Play to rehearse for, as well as a topic on traditional tales which will give the children the opportunity for lots of oral storytelling, all 27 children will be ready for a very well-earned Christmas break!
