Stoke Goldington CE First School update June 2013

Stoke Goldington CE First School update

The Busy Bees in our Early Years Foundation Stage have been particularly ‘hands-on’ over recent weeks with some brilliant topic work that has been much enjoyed in class and inspired some lovely home learning too. Their ‘Dragons & Castles’ topics included the opportunity to make their own dragons at home to bring into School – and size was clearly no object as the Busy Bees classroom is now filled with some amazingly large and fiercesome dragons! Thanks to all parents who helped to create such monsters!

The Busy Bees also enjoyed bringing in items from a different country or place they have visited and enjoyed discovering more about homes around the world, looking in particular detail at The Gambia.

We are pleased to welcome children from Stoke Goldington Pre-School into the Busy Bees classroom every Thursday afternoon, which acts as a brilliant ‘get to know you’ session for those children starting at our School in September. It enables a very smooth transition and means the ‘new starters’ are comfortable in our School surroundings during their first few days and weeks when they start in Autumn Term.

And looking ahead, the last few weeks of our Summer Term bring with it a topics on ‘Pirates’ and ‘The Seaside’ with many nautical-themed explorations ahead for our Learning Ladybirds in Years 1 and 2! All pupils at School will also once again be taking part in the MK Music Festival with many other local schools, which this year takes place at Stadium MK, home of the MK Dons. And of course our hugely enjoyable Sports Day will feature on our calendar too, fingers crossed for good weather!

Please remember if you are visiting London during the Summer to pop into The National Gallery to look at our School’s work, we are very proud that our own children’s artwork is on display! Let us know what you think of it too, we would love your feedback. The Take One Picture 2013 display will open on Wednesday 12th June and run until Sunday 22nd September. Only 25 schools from around the country have their artwork on display (all pieces inspired by a Willem Kalf painting) and we are one of them!
