Stoke Goldington CE First School July update
The children at Stoke have been out and about once again with a couple of really fun, engaging visits.
Pupils from Busy Bees Early Years Foundation Stage visited the Tesco store at Kingston as part of Tesco’s ‘Eat Happy Project’ which gives children the opportunity to fully explore where their food comes from. The 11 children loved exploring the grocery, bakery and deli departments, with the chance to taste lots of different types of foods and to learn all about where fresh food comes from and how it’s produced.
Meanwhile, as part of the theme ‘Keeping Safe and Moving On,’ Year 2 children had the perfect chance to brush up their safety awareness skills with a trip to the Hazard Alley Safety Centre at Kiln Farm. The Centre features all sorts of interactive areas which recreate potentially hazardous situations whether it’s in the home, on the road, near water or on a building site.
The children particularly enjoyed learning how to make an emergency 999 telephone call
The whole School came together to take part in the St. Peter’s Church Flower Festival in Stoke Goldington, which took the theme of ‘The Circle of Life.’ Every child joined in with a photography competition, each taking a photo to the topic of ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Creatures Great and Small’ and all the photos were displayed at the weekend-long Church Festival.
The children also created their own fantastic flower and tree displays which were put up in Church and parents and families were able to visit to see their lively, colourful work.
Year 1 and 2 children are loving their science topic about mini-beasts and habitats with many enthusiastic mini-beast hunts in the School grounds and local area!
Of course at the end of the School year a special Leavers’ Service will enable all staff, children and families to wish a very fond farewell to our Year 2 pupils Magnus, Thomas, Georgia, Ruby, Sebastian and Jesse as they leave Stoke Goldington to move on to their next Schools.
