Three new Spring events in Newport Pagnell

News of three new Spring events in Newport Pagnell.

“2014, a new year and new challenges”.

So says Geoffrey O’Brien, events organiser in Newport Pagnell for the Newport Pagnell and Olney Lions Club.

“Last year we held three fundraising events in the popular URC Hall in the High Street,  Newport Pagnell. You could say that we were dipping our toes in the water. It was important for us to find out if our way of involving the local community, through events such as these, would be supported. And yes they were!”

“This year we will be holding six events that we think will appeal to all the family. Especially chocoholics, but more of that later! Here are some details of our events in the spring.”

“We will welcome spring with an Artisans Food Festival at the end of March… So popular last year, with tremendous support from local “foodie folk” that we have been asked to do it again. So, home made honey, cakes and breads as well as oils, jams and chutneys. The following day, March 30th is Mothers Day. so there may be some last minute gift ideas too!”

“Now for something completely different! We are calling it an “Easter Eggstravaganza”. Slightly ambitious perhaps, but we think that this will appeal to all the family and not just chocoholics! Held the week before Easter, on Saturday April 12th, we are hoping to fill the URC Hall with everything chocolate.”

The list could be endless from chocolate cakes, chocolate brownies, chocolate coated cherries (oh bliss), and chocolate bunnies, rabbits, and Easter eggs. Samplings and tasting of course, especially of chilli chocolate or organic chocolate bars.

“We are hopeful of demonstrations from a local choclatier and, of course, the day would not be complete without a chocolate fountain!

“Our third Spring event is a Mayday gift Fair on May 3rd. This is the Bank Holiday weekend and a great time to explore what local craftspeople have been working on. Woodworkers, artists, cardmakers, workers in glass, jewellery and fabrics will join candle and soap makers, to fill the hall. Remember, there is always a birthday or special occasions up and coming.

“We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to know about our events, our fundraising activities and how the Newport Pagnell and Olney Lions Club help the community. Your Community. Do look at our website:
